The Young Turks: March 11, 2015

The Morning Joe panel addressed one aspect of the viral racist video out of OU after rapper Waka Flocka changed his mind about going to perform there. Mika and Bill Kristol blamed rap and Waka’s lyrics for why the frat boys were using the word nigger. Ana wonders if Mika has ever made an intelligent point on Morning Joe. A trash man in an affluent neighborhood in Atlanta decided to pick up garbage too early, 5am. After residents complained, the city attorney had him arrested and sent to jail for 30 days. The city caught so much negative attention from the story that they suspended his 30 day sentence. A Michigan man wielding a gun was confronted by police in front of a high school and was let go after he taunted him. Video of his confrontation. Cenk and Ana disagree on the reason they decided not to shoot him in the street. Cenk thinks its based on that fact he was Black, but Ana disagrees. A new app allows users to respond to text messages with Drake lyrics. Ana loves this since she’s the biggest Drake fan. Officials have finally approved powdered alcohol for consumption. Since this can be smuggled into restaurants and stadiums, Ana is all for it. Cenk hosting today. An Indiana State Rep has fallen into a sexting scandal with the same Sydney Leathers that busted Anthony Weiner. The engaged legislator got involved with Leathers after he answered an online ad where she wanted a man that she could financially dominate. His online handle was “Bitch Boy.” After she discovered that he was an elected official, she outed him. More info has come from the Meet the Press/David Gregory psychological evaluation that led to his firing. Executives wanted Gregory and Natalie Morales to be “more like themselves” on air. Cenk points out how hard this was for them to do, since anchors are heavily trained to be just news actors. MSNBC even hired people to find out who he is, and tell him how to be who he is. Morales was ‘furious’ when the executive asked her to be more like herself on air. When John McCain was asked about the GOP letter to Iran, he flippantly admitted that he signed it without thought because he signs lots of letters. When asked about the unpopular move, Sen Bob Corker claimed that Obama’s approach to negotiating his own way forced them to write the letter, making it the president’s fault. A solo fighter in Iraq that has been dubbed The Angel of Death is a solo killer that is fighting ISIS. He has become an Iraqi hero after pictures of him have been circulating on the internet of him wielding axes, swords, and big machine guns. Since he’s “our bad guy” he gets praise. Since Utah continues to have troubles with their lethal injection procedure for capital punishment, the firing squad is being proposed to be brought back. Cenk compares the brutality of this system to the guillotine & beheadings by terrorists. Pope Francis spoke about elections and claims that there should be free and fair elections not influenced by outside money. In an interview with a magazine, Jon Stewart went after President Obama’s lack of effort vs his promises for change. Final Judgment on the overreaction to Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
