The Young Turks: December 11, 2014

Ben, Ana, and Iadarola hosting. The “cromnibus” spending bill is closer to passage after it passed by a razor thin margin in test votes in the House. Despite the many provisions that screw over the American people inserted by representatives working for their rich donors, the Obama White House is in support of passing it. Elizabeth Warren asked Congress to vote against it due to these rich interests that have modified it. Video of CIA director John Brennan stepped out to defend the torture program, but pointed out that useful info from torture is unknowable. Ben points out how Brennan finally admitted that “EITs” didn’t gain actionable intelligence. Videos of John McCain speaking on the Senate floor about how torture doesn’t work and applauds the release of the torture report. Ben has no respect for McCain since he avoided speaking out strongly when it would’ve mattered. Another video of McCain speaking against torture from personal experience. Videos of Dick Cheney defending the torture tactics by asking if we should’ve kissed KSM instead, and claiming tactics like rectal rehydration helped gain intelligence. The Navy has released video of their new laser weaponry. John talks about the importance of this technology and its cost effectiveness vs. traditional bullets and missiles. The Georgetown basketball team was the first college team to come out wearing #ICantBreathe t-shirts.
