The Young Turks: October 29, 2014

Gina Grad replaces Rubin for SCS. Iranian authorities have executed a woman that killed her would-be rapist. Ana reads portions of a voice message she left for her family when she realized that she would be wrongfully executed. A viral video of a woman surfaced wearing a GoPro camera while walking around NYC shows the high level of harassment she received. After this was released, the actress has received death threats from some in the online community. Ana doesn’t think the video sufficiently shows harassment since they included the instances of men saying good morning or hello. The rest of the panel generally agrees. Jimmy tells stories of cat calling women as a construction worker. Ana remembers a story of being hit on while at a restaurant. A study showed what Americans fear the most. #1 was walking alone at night, and #5 was public speaking. Being a victim of a random shooting was in the middle. There was also a top 5 list of things Americans are worried about. Government and corporate surveillance showed up in 2 different spots of the top 5. Less education and more TV watching contributed to more fear. A study on prostate cancer concluded that men have a significantly lower risk of the disease if they’ve had more than 20 sexual partners. They also concluded that male gay sex with more than 20 partners did not hold true, but actually doubled their chances of getting the disease. New polls show that millennial voters’ support of a Democratically controlled Congress has dropped. Discussion over why this has happened.
