The Young Turks: October 03, 2014

Ana joins for SCS. Ana and Wes disagree over which state is more smug, CA or NY? The winning Squarespace website is announced for the week. A Georgia man’s house was raided by police with helicopters and SWAT teams over his okra that was growing in his backyard. They flew overhead in a helicopter and thought marijuana was in his yard. He realized after the ordeal was over that he could’ve been killed by the police. Cenk imagines a President Obama that is truly progressive. Although Black citizens get incarcerated for drug related crimes at a higher rate than White Americans, the rate of Blacks that deal drugs is startlingly low in comparison to their White counterparts. A 34 year old mother punished her 14 year old daughter for skipping school by following her around with a video camera and taunting her at school. She then posted it on Facebook where 30K people viewed it. Cenk is torn on this. TYT Supreme Court was tied until Jesus sided with a guilty ruling for the mother. A bakery owner in Oregon is facing her shop closing after she was sued for not serving a gay couple looking for a wedding cake. Video of her tearfully telling her story at the Value Voters Summit is played. Cenk explains why he has been torn on this since the beginning. Ana used to be torn, but she’s in favor of forcing them to not discriminate. Cenk, Iadarola, Jimmy Dore, and Wes Clark host TYT. Cenk interrupts with late breaking news that a personality of GodTV has morally messed up with rampant adultery charges, drug charges, and IRS dealings. Cenk advertises the Progressive Petition to get the audience to vote who they’d like to see challenge Hillary Clinton from the Progressive side. After Reza Aslan kicked a couple of CNN anchors around about their defensive questions in favor of Bill Maher’s assumptions about the entire Muslim world, they invited Chris Cuomo to bash Aslan. Video of Reza’s original appearance and their rebuttal is shown. Cuomo claimed that Aslan’s angry tone, exhibited the fearful place Americans come from when talking about Muslims. Cenk & Jimmy disagree with Wes over whether or not we’ve been simply tricked into invading the Middle East again, or if the president really thinks this strategy will work. Catfight between Obama and Fox News personalities. Video of Obama calling out Fox for making ObamaCare a “fanged outrage” when its pretty good in real life. Videos of The Five, O’Reilly, Ingraham, Fox & Friends, and Chris Wallace upset that he put the spotlight on them. Cenk and Jimmy disagree over Chris Wallace’s honesty. A poll of Americans asked which state they’d like to kick out of the Union. California and New York were the top 2. Cenk talks about how devastated the country would be if they lost CA. Republicans and Independents are also 3x more likely to want their state to secede from America.
