The Young Turks: August 04, 2014

Ana joins Cenk for SCS.  A Kim Kardashian themed app called Kim Kardashian Hollywood rakes in $700,000/day.  The objective is to move from the “E List” to the “A List” in Hollywood. In order to make it, users buy accessories for their avatar so that they can move ahead.  Nicki Minaj’s latest album cover has garnered a lot of negative attention over the shot of her round ass.  She responded by posting a picture of Sports Illustrated bikini models with g-strings on with their butts facing the camera.  Cenk talks about his confusion over whether or not to be turned on by Minaj.  Sinead O’Connor spoke out against the rabid oversexualization of child performers in the music business while not realizing we’re pushing it to child predators. NYPD arrested a woman in her home and a tape showed that they pulled her out of her apartment with no clothes on.  Her 12 year old daughter and other young family members were also abused and arrested by the police.  They showed up to the wrong floor of the building where a disturbance was reported and abused this woman instead.  The NYPD released a tape of a gunfight between two rap artists that were shooting a low budget music video.  After one guy was shot 5 times and survived, the others just walked away.  Cenk notices that the shooter never spilled his drink after shooting and pistol whipping the victim 3-4 times.  The Atlantic did a study of how success is based on a male name vs a female name of a person.  Women with more masculine names enjoyed more success than women with traditionally feminine names. A 14 year old Nigerian girl is facing a murder trial after she poisoned her 35 year old husband she was forced to marry.  The poisoned food was also consumed by 3 other people that also died. Cenk hosting.  Correction on the story of the French reporter that witnessed a rocket attack while reporting in Gaza.  TYT reported that it was an Israeli missile that landed there, but it was actually launched from the location by Hamas.  Yesterday, another rocket attack hit another UN school doubling as a shelter for the thousands of displaced citizens in Gaza, killing even more innocent civilians and children.  When Obama urged Netanyahu to ease up on their killings, the Israeli PM told Obama to never second guess him again. Analysis of the shrapnel from the killings in Jabaliya show that it was heavy artillery not designed for precision attacks.  More and more evidence like this show that the consistent bombings of citizens have nothing to do with the perceived story that they are retaliating against Hamas missiles in the area.  Cenk outlines that these actions are obviously terrorism.  The kidnapped Israeli soldier was killed early on, and leaders knew, but they acted like they thought he was being held so that they could launch a brutal attack under the guise of recovering their missing soldier.  With the latest news, some of Israel’s top allies like France are openly condemning the horror.  The United States State Dept has even spoken out against the murder of innocent Palestinian children.  Video of Valerie Jarrett appearing on Sunday shows, calling the attacks indefensible, that we can’t condone the killing of all these kids.  Mike Bloomberg appeared on the same show claiming that Israel is not to blame and that they can’t respond proportionately, but overwhelmingly since Hamas is hiding among civilians in hospitals and shelters.  A German paper reported that Israel was tapping the phone of John Kerry while he was trying to broker a deal between them and Palestine.  They later used the info obtained to disrupt peace talks. A new survey showed that favorability of Arab Americans from other Americans is at 36%.  Cenk points out how ridiculous the question is in the 1st place, how can an ethnic group of people have an approval rating?  42% believe that law enforcement is justified in racially profiling Muslim or Arab Americans.  A study by the group START revealed that the #1 terrorism group is the “Sovereign Citizen” type of group made up of American militias waiting for the government to talk your guns   Eric Cantor has decided to step down from his spot early.  Cenk points out that Cantor will  immediately take a spot with K Street. After Republicans blamed Democrats for ginning up impeachment talk, Rep Steve King brought it back up again when talking about immigration.  When responding to Obama’s assertion that the GOP is a bunch of haters, he claimed that most of them like the President.  A 21 year old Mexican man attempted to take a Facebook selfie with his gun, but accidentally shot himself in the head, killing himself.  In another story, an American man was showing his kids how to clean a gun when it went off, shooting himself in the hand.  In a 3rd case, an Illinois man shot his head off while trying to prove to his friends that his shotgun wasn’t loaded.
