The Young Turks: July 30, 2014

Ana joins Cenk for SCS. It has been discovered that the FBI trusted hair samples for evidence to convict many defendants for many years. Now that they re-opened some cases, the FBI discovered that many prisoners are rotting in jail when they are actually innocent. Rather than right their wrongs and release innocent people, they decided to stop looking at it instead. Ana goes off on the fans that bashed her for not believing in a man beating a woman that attacks him. North Korea has reopened a summer camp and has opened its doors to kids from all over the world, including the United States. A woman that offers a cuddling service for $60/hour is making a fortune and has decided to grow her business. A flight attendant on a plane full of music festival attendees told the people that they will be confronted by a drug bust on the ground, allowing them to get rid of their drugs before landing. Many people are pissed at this flight attendant for tipping them off. Basketball player Matt Barnes asked his twitter followers to help find the suspect in the murder of his aunt. The move quickly netted results, as the suspect was turned over to the police very soon after. Researchers have found that people have more of a sense of entitlement when hungry. They also concluded that these feelings of entitlement work better for interviews and getting a job, so people should allow themselves to be hungry before an interview. The Labor Relations board has ruled that McDonalds corporation can be held responsible for wrongdoing done by their franchise owners. This could lead to McDonalds unionizing, which fast food workers have been fighting for. Cenk hosting. Democrat Michelle Nunn has been involved in a plan to make fundraising their #1 priority over anything else. Of the estimated 2500 hours of campaign time in the upcoming election, they planned to spend more than 2200 hours raising money. With this kind of commitment to raising money, the politicians that get elected obviously give their attention to the people that gave them money. Cenk points out how Conservatives are losing the gay rights battle because in this rare instance, there is actually more money on the gay rights side than the anti-rights side. Memos to Nunn reveal that her position on Israel is based on who gives her the most campaign funds. She also will stand with the business community only because they are one of the most lucrative sources of cash. Now that it's becoming clearer that LGBT rights are winning the argument in America, their deep pockets are coming after Republicans to get them to switch positions in their favor. Lobbyists are now working for LGBT groups to make this happen, one even headed by the author of the DOMA, which was against gay rights. Republicans blocked a bill that would limit U.S. companies from moving their businesses overseas to avoid American taxes. Obama made a speech about the economy and the do-nothing Congress while he was in Kansas City. Videos of the president calling Republicans in Congress haters are shown. Cenk wonders where this Barack Obama is during the rest of the year, not only during election years. The latest devastating news from the war in Gaza. Another UN school has been hit by Israeli fire, killing 19 people and injuring another 90. During a “humanitarian pause” leading Palestinians to go outside, another Israeli rocket hit a crowded market in Gaza, killing even more people, injuring over 100 more. From the Israeli side, 5 Hamas rockets landed in an uninhabited area, harming no one. A Vox article explains in detail why the tensions between Israel and Palestinians continue to flare up into war, including Israel’s policy of “Cutting the Grass.” Palestinian electricity and water supply have all been taken out.
