The Young Turks: March 17, 2014

Cenk hosting.  Compelling story of recently deceased Congressman Bill Young’s family life.  After cheating on his first wife whom he had kids with, he married the secretary/mistress and started a 2nd family with her and completely ignored and alienated his first kids and ex-wife.  Apparently, this 2nd wife was a huge supporter of Jolly to run in the special election to replace Young.  She also seemed to be the one that forced Young to shun his previous kids.  Dianne Feinstein’s hypocrisy over spying and surveillance continues in her interview on 60 Minutes about drone use.  She is explicitly freaked out by the use and wants a lot of regulation to keep them in check.  The Koch Brothers’ Americans for Prosperity has released a new ad that paints a picture of them not doing political ads against ObamaCare, as the ad is political, and against ObamaCare.  The RNC released a new ad hoping to connect to minorities, women, and young voters by filling the commercial with each of these demographics.  The referendum in Crimea over the weekend ended with a reported 97% voting in favor of breaking away from Ukraine and going along with Russia.  Cenk thinks there finally has come the time that we need to consider doing something about Putin’s actions of taking over countries.  The radical news anchor of Russia Today, appointed by Vladimir Putin himself, went on a rant about their Dead Hand Defense System and Russia’s capabilities to nuke the U.S.  A hedge fund executive has decided to put $1 billion bet down on HerbaLife going down because its a pyramid scheme.  Instead of standing by and seeing if his bet will pay off, he is looking to  spend tons of money to use non-profits and the government to make sure it will happen. Ana joins Cenk for SCS.  Updates on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight; the pilot or co-pilot diverted the plane and turned off the transponder.  After the fake viral video of strangers kissing came out last week, Vice decided to do the experiment for real.  The results weren't as hot, but it was heartwarming for Cenk.  In a few St. Patrick’s Day parades in NYC and Boston, they wouldn’t allow openly gay people to participate in the events.  In response, mayor Bill De Blasio didn’t attend, Guinness pulled its sponsorship from the NYC parade, and Sam Adams pulled out of the Boston parade.  Rupert Murdoch tweeted about how annoyed he is over the gay community bullying people, and that we should boycott Guinness for folding to the pressure.  Occidental College in LA has been dealing with problems surrounding sexual assault cases and a writer for LA Times that wrote about it misreported significant information because he was involved in a relationship with his source.  The LA Times fired him for the behavior.  Fred Phelps, founder of hateful Westboro Baptist Church is in the hospital and dying.  Ana talks about his interesting past, which includes being a Civil Rights attorney, representing many Black Americans in tough times.  At another time, he lost his law license for sexually harassing a law aide that made a mistake.  China is disputing the UN Report outlining the human rights abuses going on in N. Korea.  The man that had gigantic testicles has passed away.  Ana details the story behind how a lack of healthcare contributed to his eventual death.
