The Young Turks: March 04, 2014

Cenk hosting.  The Russian/Ukraine situation has gotten a little better since yesterday after Putin pulled back on the troops in the Crimea region and didn’t engage as promised.  He has claimed that he still has the right to use armed forces in the country.  Harry Reid advocated that we should wait on moving on the conflict until the European powers are definitely with us on it.  Rep Steve King was upset about AZ Gov Brewer vetoing the anti-gay legislation, worrying that people’s “self-professed” behavior shouldn’t be used to file lawsuits against discriminating businesses.  He claims that someone’s homosexuality can’t be independently verified before they are treated like a human.  John Derbyshire, fired from the National Review for a racist column, now writes for a White Nationalist site and advocated that the Republicans stop trying to reach out to anyone else except for White men.  Minorities and women are a dead end. Duke Energy is being punished after their latest spill in North Carolina.  They are now being slapped with violations of 5 permits at 5 different facilities.  Even though regulators knew of the violations since 2010, they’re finally doing something about it now that their latest spill received big news.  A new housing bubble is brewing.  Instead of requiring nothing down and putting anyone in a house while betting on it, they’re requiring exorbitant amounts down, and the banks are buying them.  After buying, they’re utilizing derivative betting on the renters the way that they bet on the old buyers.  Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones went on a detached rant about how the Democratic Party is a new KKK party, just with minorities being the racists, suppressing Whites with the help of government.  After Raw Story reported on Jones’ craziness, they called it an “internet only” show, which set Alex off on a wild rant.  Abby Martin, host of an RT show, spoke out in some off-the cuff comments against the actions of Russia in Ukraine.  Since RT is Kremlin-funded, this move has sparked a lot of attention.  The station quickly pointed out that they are not going to punish her, but that they will send her to Crimea to cover the heart of the story.  Martin declared that she is in fact, not going to Crimea.

An organization called Project Rose teams up with police to target sex workers on the streets to arrest them and take them to a church to be involved in the religious program, or go to jail.  A police chief spoke out against the legalization of marijuana by citing a story that claimed 37 people died in Colorado immediately after it was legalized.  The problem was that the source was The Daily Currant, a satire site.  The first televised marijuana ad will hit homes in NJ to start off.  29 people were killed in a mass knife attack carried out by 8 suspects, one of the worst knife attacks ever.  Comparing this mass killing to the talking points gun toting Americans will surely have in claiming that people kill people, not guns or knives.  The mortality rate among the two weapons and their lethal nature can’t be compared.
