The Young Turks: November 08, 2013

Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz, and John Iadarola hosting from YouTube Space LA. Cenk gives an Indiegogo campaign update and shows pics from Jenny taken on the road with Cenk’s bobble-head doll. President Obama apologizes to those who will lose their plan under the new ACA legislation. He didn’t really apologize for misleading anybody or why he or his staff thought it was necessary to do so. Was the apology even necessary to begin with given that even with the loss of existing plans under the ACA, 97% will end up having better plans anyway. Nearly 5 million people will not be included in the expansion of Medicaid under the ACA, due to state-level cuts and blocks by GOP governors. 11 of the 14 Republican Senators up for re-election next cycle are sponsoring an abortion ban to at least appear more conservative to their constituents for the upcoming primary challenges from the right-most wing of the GOP and/or Tea Party. The bill doesn’t have a chance of actually passing. It is mostly posturing and political theater. New information has been revealed that security contractor Dylan Davies AKA “Morgan Jones” lied to 60 Minutes during his interview regarding Benghazi. Lara Logan who reported the segment was forced to issue an apology for 60 Minutes. Cenk updates Indiegogo and reads #TYTLive tweets. Super Typhoon Hyian has made landfall in the Philippines. Hyian might be the strongest storm ever recorded. The category 5 storm covered the equivalent distance between Canada and Florida and had an eye the size of Germany when landfall was made. New climate change estimates regarding  economic and health impacts have been released. Things are not looking good. A new Texas tax rebate for owners of electric vehicles will not include the owners of cars made by Tesla because of lobbying efforts made by car dealerships not to include those models. More money in politics bullshit resulting in nonsensical legislation. Ana Kasparian joins Cenk and Ben for the second hour. Police are now saying that Renisha McBride was not shot in the back of the head while asking for help in Detroit after being involved in a car accident. The police are saying that Renisha McBride was shot from the front and not in the back and while she was walking away. The misleading information may have come from McBride’s family. After many demonstrations following the Zimmerman acquittal for the repeal of stand your ground laws, a panel of Florida lawmakers have decided to consider repealing the law. After the consideration the panel decided not to go forward with a repeal. They will, however, now consider expanding the law. Really!? Following a fight with his father over smoking cigarettes, 19 year old Tyler Comstock stole his father’s car and was shot and killed by police during a chase that ensued after the father alerted authorities. Check out What The Flick for movie reviews. (Shameless plug) Looking for a good movie to see this weekend? Check out either Dallas Buyers’ Club or 12 Years a Slave. 12 Years… is a must-see, but be prepared for some intense imagery. George Nathaniel III, a pastor and school bus driver, was fired for inviting public school students to pray with him every morning. The driver was warned and asked repeatedly to stop by administrators before being terminated. Lululemon CEO, Chip Wilson, blamed the flaw in a recent design of womens yoga pants which were too sheer to hide underwear not on the material of the pants, but instead on women’s bodies themselves. Cenk reads more #TYTLive tweets. AR Wear have designed new anti-rape underwear to deter rapists by making underwear more difficult to remove and tear.
