The Young Turks: April 17, 2013

Gun control legislation was killed today in the Senate.  Outrage ensured, and Cenk points out that the politicians wanting to do nothing are going to be highlighted for not taking this watered down bill.  It could even lead to stronger legislation to be presented later.  Video of Obama’s angry response to the no vote.  Cenk doesn’t believe the president will go after the guys that crossed him on this.  The GOP lie on the background check legislation, led by Sen Ted Cruz, claiming that it will include a national gun registry when it specifically labels it as illegal.  Sen Harry Reid has suddenly changed his mind and is strongly in favor of the assault rifles ban, high capacity magazines, and background checks. Another letter containing ricin was sent to President Obama, just like what was sent to Rep Wicker in MS.  The culprit has been arrested.  CNN’s coverage of the Boston terrorism had many flaws, including the report that a man was arrested & that he was a dark skinned man.  The Stock Act was created to stop elected officials from being able to use insider information to trade on the market.
